Convert text to Sentence case
Rewrite any text in sentence case — first letter capitalised, the rest lower, new sentences and paragraphs handled. Free, as you type, in your browser.
Sentence case is how people actually write: a capital to start, capitals for names, and lowercase everywhere else. This converter rebuilds that rhythm from any input — it lowercases the text, then re-capitalises the first letter after every period, question mark, exclamation point and line break, so a new paragraph starts fresh just like a new sentence.
It is the best repair for caps-lock accidents: "PLEASE HELP. MY CAPS LOCK IS STUCK" becomes "Please help. My caps lock is stuck" — readable again without flattening the sentence boundaries the way plain lowercase does. The conversion runs as you type, entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
Because the whole case engine is shared, the style menu can take the repaired text further in one click — lowercase for a uniform block, Title Case if the passage turns out to be a headline, or camelCase and snake_case if it turns out to be identifiers. One paste, every direction.
Frequently asked questions
- Does it capitalise names and proper nouns?
- No — sentence case is a mechanical pass, so a lowercase name stays lowercase. It capitalises sentence starts, not recognised nouns. Run through the result for proper nouns if the text is name-heavy.
- What counts as a new sentence?
- A period, question mark or exclamation point starts the next sentence, and so does a line break — bulleted lists and paragraphs get their capital at the start of each line, not just after punctuation.
- Caps lock text with no punctuation — what do I get?
- A capital first letter and everything else lowercase, which is usually what you want for a single sentence or a list of short lines. Switch to plain lowercase from the menu if you want even the first letter down.
