Remove emoji from text

Strip every emoji from text in your browser — smileys, flags, keycaps and combined ZWJ sequences removed as whole units. Clean output, nothing uploaded.

Removes emoji, flags, ZWJ sequences and skin-tone variants — plus the invisible joiners, so no stray characters are left behind.

Paste any text and strip every emoji in one go — smileys, symbols, flags, keycaps and the long combined sequences that trip up naive strippers. Each zero-width-joiner chain, skin-tone variant and flag is removed as the single unit it displays as, and the counter tells you exactly how many were taken out.

Everything else passes through untouched: words, punctuation, CJK, accented letters and ordinary symbols stay exactly as written. That makes it safe for cleaning product feeds, CSV exports, database fields, chat archives or any dataset where a downstream system chokes on non-text characters.

Everything runs locally in your browser — the text is never uploaded, so pasting customer data or private messages is fine. Need the opposite direction? The emoji-to-Unicode converter shows the code points behind each emoji instead of deleting them.

Frequently asked questions

Does it handle complex emoji like families or flags?
Yes. Family and couple emoji are chains of simpler emoji joined by zero-width joiners — this tool removes the whole chain as one emoji, counts it once and leaves no invisible joiners behind. Flags (including subdivision flags like England's) and keycaps like 1️⃣ are treated the same way.
Will my normal text change?
No. Letters, digits, punctuation, CJK and accented characters pass through byte-for-byte. Only characters classified as emoji — pictographs plus their modifiers and joiners — are removed.
Why would I remove emoji from text?
Common reasons: CSV or database imports that reject emoji, SEO title tags where emoji count against pixel limits, cleaning training data, and legacy systems whose fonts render emoji as empty boxes.
