Convert JSON to YAML

Turn JSON into clean block-style YAML in your browser — the readable form for docs, configs and code reviews. Nothing is uploaded.

Paste JSON and get idiomatic block-style YAML: two-space indentation, compact sequence items, mappings nested under their - key without extra lines. Multi-line strings become block scalars (|) instead of one unreadable \n-riddled line, and any string whose plain style would change meaning is double-quoted with proper escapes.

The output drops documents into the dialect CI files, compose files and Kubernetes manifests use, so the result reads like a config a colleague would have written by hand — paste it into a code review and nobody will ask why it looks machine-generated.

The reverse direction is one click away: the YAML to JSON converter accepts the same subset, so you can verify a round-trip is lossless before committing either side.

Frequently asked questions

What does the YAML output look like?
Block style: two-space indents, sequences as - items, nested maps under their list key, | block scalars for multi-line strings. Only strings that would be misread as numbers, booleans or null get quoted.
Will special characters break the YAML?
No. Strings with leading/trailing spaces, lookalike scalars ("42", "true") or control characters are double-quoted with escapes, so re-parsing yields exactly the original value.
Is my JSON uploaded anywhere?
No. Conversion runs locally in your browser tab — paste API responses with real payloads freely.
