Facebook’s link posts and preview cards render their imagery in a 1200×630 window; other ratios are centre-cropped in ways that regularly behead people mid-frame. This page makes a 1200×630 canvas with your photo fitted whole inside — padding fills the edges the platform would otherwise crop through.
The resize runs entirely in your browser tab. Upload the result as your post image or link preview and the full composition ships — no follow-up crop Facebook imposes at render time.
Frequently asked questions
- Is 1200×630 the size for profile pictures?
- No — profile photos are square 176px-plus circles. This target is for timeline/link imagery. Assemble the profile variant by resizing to 500×500 instead.
- Will Facebook recompress my 1200×630 upload?
- It applies its normal JPEG pass to every upload, but a correctly sized pre-compressed file survives with far less degradation than an oversized source it has to crop and squash itself.
