Scanning entries and healing XML — nothing uploaded
An Excel file that won’t open is usually a damaged container: the download was interrupted, a transfer corrupted the archive, or the saving app crashed mid-write. Since .xlsx is a ZIP archive of XML sheets, most “broken” workbooks are recoverable — and the recovery can run entirely in your browser.
Drop the damaged workbook here: Rollphy scans the raw file for readable entries (even when the ZIP index at the end is missing), decompresses every recoverable sheet, repairs truncated XML, and rewrites a clean .xlsx you can open again. Everything happens on your device — your data, formulas and payroll sheets never touch a server.
What’s recoverable: sheets, shared strings and formatting whose data survived in the file. What isn’t: parts that were never written to disk in the first place (a truly half-saved file only contains what reached the storage). The report after repair tells you exactly which parts were healed or missing.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it safe to upload my Excel file here?
- There is no upload. The repair engine runs in your browser tab via WebAssembly-free Web APIs — the file is processed in memory on your own device.
- Will I lose formulas and formatting?
- Everything whose underlying data survived is preserved as-is, including formulas, styles and multiple sheets. Parts that were physically missing from the damaged file cannot be conjured back.
- The file says “file format or extension is not valid” — can you fix it?
- Usually yes. That error typically means the ZIP index is damaged while the sheets themselves are intact — exactly the case this tool rebuilds.
