iPhones save photos as HEIC by default, but most websites, Windows apps and older software still want JPG. This converter decodes HEIC (and HEIF) entirely in your browser using WebAssembly — your photos are processed on your own device and never uploaded anywhere.

Drop in one or more .heic files from iCloud Photos, an iPhone export or a friend’s AirDrop. You get standard JPG copies that open everywhere: Windows Explorer, Android, WordPress, online forms and every messaging app. Quality is kept high (92%) so recompression loss is invisible.

HEIC is genuinely the better format — roughly half the size of JPG for the same quality. If you’re converting just to shrink files, try JPG to WebP instead: it keeps the size advantage and opens in every modern browser and app.

Frequently asked questions

Are my HEIC photos uploaded to a server?
No. The HEIC decoder is a WebAssembly library that runs inside your browser tab. Your photos never leave the device — conversion works offline once the page has loaded.
Does converting lose quality?
Barely. We decode at full resolution and re-encode at 92% JPEG quality — visually indistinguishable from the original HEIC in normal use.
Why did my iPhone save HEIC instead of JPG?
Since iOS 11, iPhones default to High Efficiency (HEIC) to save storage. You can switch to Most Compatible in Settings → Camera → Formats, or just convert files here as needed.
