Compare two texts line by line

Compare two texts or config files line by line in your browser — additions and removals highlighted live. Free, no sign-up, nothing uploaded.

Paste two versions of anything — a config file, an essay, a log excerpt — and the differences highlight live: green for additions, red for removals, context untouched. The comparison runs in your browser; sensitive texts never leave your device.

The algorithm is a proper line-level longest-common-subsequence diff, the same family of approach git uses — not a naive line-by-line sweep, so moved or edited lines in the middle are matched correctly.

Everything stays local, which makes it safe for content you’d never paste into a random website: contract drafts, production configs, private notes. The diff updates as you type on either side.

Frequently asked questions

How are differences calculated?
Line-level longest common subsequence — the edits shown are the minimal set of removals and additions that transform the left text into the right one.
Is my text uploaded?
No. Diffing runs entirely in your browser tab — nothing is transmitted, which is why it’s safe for private documents and production configs.
Does it compare character-level changes?
It compares line by line — the granularity git diff uses by default. Whole-line changes keep long files readable.
